Paws on the Promenade Dog Walk Fundraiser hosted by Mdzananda Animal Clinic in partnership with Vondi's Holistic Pet Nutrition. Paws and Humans enjoyed the 5km scenic route along the Sea Point Promenade in support of animal welfare.

Our second annual Paws on the Promenade Dog Walk fundraiser took place on the 19th of March. A total of 367 humans and 271 dogs took part in the event.

Picture by Rima Geffen Photography On Sunday the 19th of March the Mdzananda Animal Clinic hosted their second Paws on the Promenade event – a dog walk fundraiser starting at the Mouille Point light house and extending to the Sea Point swimming pool and back. Participants walked the 5km scenic route with their furry companions all in support of raising funds for the Mdzananda Animal Clinic which is based in Khayelitsha. A total of 367 humans and 271 dogs took part in the event. Dressed in bows, customized outfits and even orange tutus the dog owners made an effort to dress up to look their best. Khayelitsha veterinary clinic brings hope and happiness to community

What started as a community member with a big heart wanting to help out with his neighbours’ pets, turned into the success that is the Mdzananda Animal Clinic, based in Khayelitsha, just outside Cape Town. Serving up to 1000 pets every month, the clinic started with only a handful of volunteers and became an animal haven over a period of 21 years. Mdzananda Animal Clinic’s story started in 1996, with a community hero who wanted to help animals in his neighbourhood. Mr Joe, a local Khayelitsha resident, took it upon himself to push a trolley and water bucket around the community, bathing and feeding community pets.
