Cassandra runs 10km to raise funds for our four-legged friends

Support Cassandra as she runs 10km to raise funds for the Mdzananda Animal Clinic For me, 2016 was a busy year - a journey that has continued into 2017. I married the love of my life, I took on a new and challenging role at my work, and I decided to make some positive changes in my life. Part of that journey has involved overcoming some personal struggles that have plagued me for most of my life and that have left me feeling embattled emotionally, and have had a sometimes negative effect on my self-esteem and my relationships. In trying to overcome some of these demons and improve my self-awareness, I decided to engage in activities that provided me with a sense of achievement and purpose. A

Computers stolen and damaged!

With sad hearts we need to share with you that two of our laptops have been stolen and one laptop's motherboard has been damaged rendering it unusable. This theft and unknown source of damage is extremely saddening and a huge knock to our pockets. A case has been opened at the police and we have taken the serial numbers to cash converters where we believe the computers may land up. As these were three essential computers we needed to replace them immediately. IT COST R 18 507 !!! This is not money that we have lying around. We needed to dig into our funds meaning that other essential items for the pets will not have funding for in our budget this year. We are extremely grateful to the supp

Animal Physical Rehab sponsors Zen!

We are very excited to announce that Animal Physical Rehab has taken on the special responsibility of sponsoring Zen one of our resident cats. After their team visited Mdzananda a few weeks ago, loving what we do, they decided to make an effort to raise funds to sponsor a resident pet. Sponsoring a pet costs R450 per month which covers his/her vaccinations, dewormers, flea and tick treatment, sterilization and food. Animal Physical Rehab will be sponsoring Zen for one year and they hope to raise more funds to sponsor him for longer. Well done to this awesome team! What an inspiration to other companies to follow in their footsteps. If you would like to sponsor a resident or stray pet cont

Cindy finds her perfect mom and perfect home

Cindy, a Staffie cross, arrived at Mdzananda as an unwanted pet. She had an old leg injury giving her the cutest bent hind legs. Mdzananda has always had resident pets who live at the clinic and are part of the family. There has been Liquorice, Thandi, Ruby, Bones, AJ, Cutie and many more. Many lived their whole lives with us and passed away at the clinic. Some were lucky enough to be adopted after many years at Mdzananda. We reached a stage where we had no resident pets and we wanted to offer a home to a special new friend. Cindy arrived and we all fell in love. She joined the Mdzananda family and lived with us having full free roam of the clinic for around 6 months. But she was not happy

Saying Goodbye to Ginger

They say cats choose their owners and Ginger was no exception. Ginger was initially seen frequenting the clinic garden. He was extremely scared and we were unable to catch him. From what we could see he had an injury which looked like a burn wound down one side of his body. He was very thin and he was also missing half a tail. With lots of work, food and love from Lalaphi, our maintenance manager, Ginger was gradually tamed and blossomed into a confident kitty. He was adopted into the clinic family as one of our resident cats and was very attached to Lalaphi. As his confidence grew he became the leader of the resident cats and also kept all the resident dogs in line. He loved greeting visi
