Introduction to Susan Wishart, interim General Manager

Dear Mdzananda Supporters

We would like to introduce the newest member of the Mdzananda Animal Clinic team. Susan Wishart joined Mdzananda as interim General Manager on the 2nd of May 2017.

We are saying goodbye to Felipe Perdomo, our previous Director, who spent two years at Mdzananda guiding and directing the team and organisation. Felipe has decided to take on new adventures in his life and as a result stepped down from the directorship position. From our Board of Directors and staff we would like to thank Felipe for his invaluable work and his tireless effortin leadingthe Mdzananda Animal Clinic during his time with us.

We welcome Susan Wishart as the acting General Manager of Mdzananda to lead the clinic through the next transformational period.

As supporters of the Khayelitsha community many may know Susan as the previous General Manager of Learn to Earn. Susan spent eleven years as General Manager of Learn to Earn Khayelitsha training the unemployed to have hands-on skills that allow for entry levels opportunities into the market place.

Working in the community for eleven years Susan has a vast understanding of the community ways, struggles and aspirations. She has invaluable relationships with key stakeholders in the community. Her work in the community has given her a deep respect for people with diverse cultural backgrounds, experiences, opinions and ways of working together - something of great importance at Mdzananda.

Susan has a passion for uplifting and empowering people which she aims to bring into Mdzananda through further upliftment and empowerment of our staff (80% of whom are from the community), our clients and community pet owners. Her expertise lies in project management, community development, training, human resource management, enterprise development, communication, financial management, monitoring and evaluation.

She holds a degree in Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Master of Laws (LLM) and a National Diploma in Nature Conservation. She has also been volunteering at the Western Leopard Toad Conservation Committee for the past 9 years.

Susanlooks forward to meeting everyone who supports Mdzananda. We would like to invite you to visit us and meet the team. Our office is open from 8:00 am to 16:30 pm week days. Please also feel free to get in touch with Susan on swishart@mdzananda.co.za or 082 251 0554.
